Farm News
February 2008 Down on the Farm.
Rain! Rain! Rain! is the current talking point; inches of the dammed
stuff. Ground is virtually impossible it is so wet, but regardless of the
weather there is always something to do. Some grain is on the move at
a decent price (not before time) and potatoes have moved out of store
quiet rapidly. We now have a collection of young calves, earlier than
normal, seven in number, all doing well.
On a sad note tuppence the lamb died last week also 4 of her pals,
victims of Pulpy Kidney disease. For anybody who did not know
tuppence she was an orphan lamb who we nursed during last spring
time, as she grew bigger she assumed the roll of guard dog following
around the farm and nursery as if she owned the place. Alas as her
appetite grew a liking for everything green was her downfall. She was
then moved to a field of grass, but that was not good enough as she
broke out dozens of times until strong Rylock fencing had to be put in
place to keep her in. Everybody knew tuppence and she was a great
friend of the children. R.I.P.
