The Speckled Hen
We have now been open for over a year and how that year has flown.
The first three to four months was taken up getting systems in place and
sometimes being changed to suit working practices and also to serve the
public as well as possible. We started from scratch so it is all credit to
Hazel, Heather, Val, Joyce and the week-end girls Lisa, Stacy, Rachel
and Nicky for their hard work and good ideas which have us up to
speed. New ideas have kept coming form the kitchen to satisfy the
customers palate and I am enjoying my new job as tester for the food
products.
The Farm shop has grown over the year with new products being
introduced over the period. A meat fridge has been added; Aberdeen
Angus Beef, Puddldub Pork and Newbigging Lamb all on offer. Dairy
Products from North Street Dairy Forfar, our own Veg and Fruit, Free
Range Eggs from our own hens, Hazel's Jams and Chutneys form the
kitchen, Heathers Tablet and now Cairn o' Mohr Wines are now on the
shelf with regular tasting sessions taking place.
Finally, our Ceildhs have been well supported with various charities
benefiting such as Rachel's Orphanage Kenya, Guide Dogs, RNLI
Broughty Ferry. A good night was had by all.
